I don’t see it being an r x-9, I see it as the coupe of the new rwd straight- 6 mazda6. From what I gathered from a quick glance, the only thing tying it to an RX is an unnamed source, the patents/drawings are just a generic rwd application, and we've already heard of the vision coupe getting greenlit supposedly to premier at Tokyo this year as a four door coupe. Which I am super stoked about to be honest, I'm thinking of legit trying to get to a place where I can afford one in the next few years, but I need to get my wife a new car first and get that paid off to even have a shot.

The rotary aspect, yeah. But a few outlets have reported on a new rwd architecture designed for a straight 6 skyactiv-x based on the vision coupe concept, production version is supposed to debut at Tokyo this year from what I've read.

Yeah and I’m super impressed, she’s not really a car person but she’s wanted a mazda3 hatch for years, I change my mind every 6 months, I’ve literally had 5 different cars in the almost 6 years she’s had her Kia Rio. But a straight 6 rwd Mazda is literally everything I've ever wanted so if it turns out to be real, I'll get her a Mazda 3 now and take her old Rio until that comes out.

Maybe the RX series of the future can be more about newer technology rather than rotary engines. I wouldn’t mind seeing Mazda get into the electric car game, and a limited-production sportscar would be a good place to begin , kind of like how Tesla got its start.

They should have continued on with a car like the RX8 and did a V6. It was a great car, does great in sports car racing, etc. The engine actually held it back from mainstream popularity.
